Hot Weather

A dog cannot sweat. It can only pant, and panting stops working once the air is as warm as they are.

Which is why shade and water matter more than any gadget. A pressure-activated mat that needs no power and no freezer, a bowl that lives on the lead, and a flask that is still cold at hour twenty-four.

None of it needs charging, plugging in or remembering — which is the only reason any of it actually gets used in August.
